September 23, 1997
The thirty-seventh edition of the International Nautical Exhibition (Salone Internazionale della Nautica), that will take place in Genoa at the Fiera from 11 to 19 October, will offer to the visitors an exhibition area enriched with further 20,000m2 compared to other editions, making an available gross area of 265,000m2.
Among them 2,000m2 are from new space availabilities taken from the building "B", while the remaining 18,000m2 will host the structures of "Marina due" which will sum up to the well known "Marina Fiera di Genova", which is a part of the exhibition area. "Marina due" increases the presentation capabilities also at sea, which is a unique feature in Europe, and perhaps all over the world, of the Genoese Nautical Exhibition, and will make the presence of maxi-yachts with a lentgth from 30 to 50m possible. The admiral of the Exhibition will be the "Alambra", a 54m yacht from the Azimut-Benetti shipyard. "Marina due" will have a parking area reserved to the guests of the maxi-yacht exhibitors, while the access to the public from the exhibition area to the new Marina will be through a mechanical drawbridge, made just for the occasion, to enable the passage of the boats sailing towards the Minor Dock of the Fiera.
By the ground spaces of the new Marina will also take place the "Punto Mare Giovani" launched in 1996 by UCINA to promote the nautical passion among young people. There will be also a swimming pool of 60x15m provided with a special mechanical device making wind, devoted to trial wind-surfs, small sailing boats and safety devices for the navigation.
By the entering bridge of "Marina due" there will be a reproduction in real dimensions of the famous goletta "America" which won the regatta that was lately named America's Cup.
From the Piazzale Mare from where the "Marina Fiera di Genova" can be accessed, a real prototype of a beach with tools to retain boats will be organized.
The events that will be shown aside the Exhibition will concern a wide variety of Italian and foreign nautical themes: from the Italian rules and regulations regarding the new EU directive on boats of more than 24 m, to the new, high-technologies and the more sophisticated communications means, to the problems of companies operating in the nautical market.
Also this year the Exhibition will host the Nautical Tourism Market, that, perhaps, is the most adequate seat. The Market, organized by the Regione Liguria, the Chamber of Commerce, UCINA and the Fiera di Genova, will take place on Wednesday 15 October and can count on the presence of numerous foreign operators.
