THE SHIPS OF UASC ENGAGED IN THE SLOT CHARTER AGREEMENT WITH THE TRICON LEAVING GENOVA FOR SPEZIA
The Arabian company also made an agreement with Norasia and Mediterranean Shipping Co
February 3, 1997
The shipping company United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) recently drew up a slot charter agreement binding herself to Tricon (DSR/Senator and Cho Yang, allied companies also with Hanijn) both for services for the Arabic Gulf and the United States (Atlantic coast). The partners stipulating the agreement achieved a twofold advantage: the Tricon strengthens his presence in the Middle east, while Uasc takes advantage of the wide services network set up by his partners. The triple alliance in the Tricon (DSR/Senator, Cho Yang and UASC) is worth a deadweight capacity of over 150.000 teu, which goes up to almost 270.000 considering the Hanjin fleet, the other external allied. The services of UASC come into the Tricon are: the America-Mediterranean-Asia Service, the Asia-Middle East-Europe Service and the India-Pakistan Express Service.
And the ships of UASC engaged in the Tricon within the joint of the line to the United States (Atlantic Coast) and to the Arabic Gulf will leave the terminal of Genova (container terminal SECH of Calata Sanità) for the port of Spezia (weekly call, on Sundays). Last sailing from Genova to the North America is that one of the "Ibn Sina" scheduled on February 23.
In December the UASC shipping company has made a further slot charter agreement regarding the ports of the Arabic Gulf with Norasia and Mediterranean Shipping Company, the two companies which at the end of February will end the slot exchange agreement with the Hyundai.
The UASC is an Arabic shipping company whose shares are split among Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, United Arabs Emirates and Bahrein. In Italy it is represented by the shipping agency Medmar located in Genova.
