Trenitalia Spa, passenger transport and logistics group of the Italian State Railways (FS), and DB Fernverkerhr AG, a company long-distance services for the group's German railway Deutsche Bahn (DB), have reached an agreement that will allow trains starting to move from Monaco in Italy, Germany, with a view to collaboration and cooperation aimed at overall improvement of the entire system of rail passengers.
The announcement was made today, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation stating that the agreement is the result of the invitation to the two railway companies by the Minister Matteoli and his German counterpart Peter Ramsauer in the German-Italian summit held last January.
In particular DB Fernverkerhr has reconfigured its range of services on the Brenner line and the office responsible for the regulation of rail services, with a decision today, has verified that the new project schedule does not affect the balance of public service contracts currently in place and, therefore, not be subject to limitations of stops. Based on this decision to the Trenitalia and DB Fernverkerhr said that will put an end to ongoing litigation and withdraw all appeals in the administrative courts.
"I want to stress - said Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteoli - the importance of this joint solution, achieved through the essentials of mediation offices of the ministry. It thus gives a concrete answer to the demands of mobility, often highlighted by the presidents and the relevant regional and provincial councilors and citizens of South Tyrol. "
