Signed the minutes of agreement for the start of the yards of the first constructive lottery of the Third Pass of Giovi



Today to Rome, near the ministry of Infrastructures and the Transports, the minutes of agreement for the start of the yards of the first constructive lottery of the Third Pass of Giovi have been undersigned, railway connection that takes part of the European priority project n. 24 Genoa-Rotterdam, for total costs of 500 million euros. The document is signed by the managing director of Italian Railway Net (RFI), Michele Mario Elia, and from the president of the Consortium COCIV, Alberto Rubegni, to the presence of the minister of Infrastructures and of the Transports, Altero Matteoli, and of the managing director of the group Italian Railroads of the State (FS), Mauro Moretti.

"The work of the Third Pass - minister Matteoli has declared - will leave practically quickly. We have financed the first lottery and the second we will already finance it to the Cipe of the next week. The Third Pass is a fundamental work for a port as that of Genoa, than its potentialities for lack of some have not up to now expressed all important structures of connection. The Third Pass - it has added - is an important work as Tav Torino-Lione, than once realized will afford to Italy to reduce the gap infrastructural with the other European Countries".

The new line of the Third Pass, integral part of Corridor 24, will have a length of about 53 kilometers besides 14 kilometers of interconnections with the existing railway net, for a total of about 67 infrastructure kilometers new and it will be developed mostly in gallery. Entirely integrated with the existing net, the Third Pass of Giovi will be interconnected to south with the node of Genoa, in order to assure the connection directed with the harbour basins and the Genoa-Ventimiglia line, and to north, in the directions of Turin, Novara, Milan and Piacenza, through the connections with the conventional lines in proximity of Novi Ligure and Tortona.

Online with the advance standards than safety, realized mostly in basement, the Third Pass will be developed in two galleries to simple railroad placed side by side and joined between they from cross-sectional connections so that ognuna it can serve from gallery of safety for the other. The interconnections with the railway net existing are previewed to Voltri, Genoa Campasso Park, Novi Ligure and Tortona.

The tracing interests the territory of 12 Municipalities, that of the provinces of Genoa and Alexandria and the Regions Liguria and Piemonte.

Outsourcer of the work is Italian Railway Net (group FS), general contractor is Consortium COCIV, while the high surveillance is entrusted to Italferr (group FS).

The total investment for the realization of the Third Pass of Giovi is previewed in 6.200 million euros. The conclusion of the work is previewed at the end of 2019.

While minister Matteoli has announced that the board of directors of the Tight Society of Messina has approved of the definitive project of the bridge on the Strait of Messina and has specified that the work will be started in December 2012 and concluded they also in 2019.
