Sogemar (Contship Italy) has upgraded infrastructures of the intermodal terminal of Melzo



Sogemar, society of intermodal transport entirely controlled from the group Contship Italy, has upgraded infrastructures of the intermodal terminal of Melzo with a million investment five euro. Thanks to the initiative the terminal, managed from the Contship group since 2003, is able to operate on an endowed surface of large square pairs to 160.000 square metres of 14 kilometers of railroads and six lanes in income and expenditure for the completely automated trucks.

Sogemar has emphasized that such structure guarantees the necessary services to the realization of the indispensable technical-organizational conditions for a development of the more and more efficient traffic goods. The hub Lombardic, turned also to the markets of the Europe north, boasts an extreme speed in the refuel/defuel operations trains and a railway operativity of 24 hours a day, 7 days on 7. Moreover, its positioning in one of the main industrial areas of the Country and the consequent connection to various and complementary infrastructures of transport (railroad, freeway, port, etc) generate sinergici effects and of cooperation that positive effects in terms of concentration of ability and ulterior flows of goods, operators of the traffic and offer of services have.

The company has specified that as a result of the project is realized also a new building of 1.800 square metres totals used after "Centro Servizi", completely public, where a bar and a restaurant are found to the ground floor, to the second floor a rest room for the machinists and to the third and last slowly offices of Customs.

In the 2006 terminal of Melzo container teu and in 2012 has enlivened 100,000, as a result of the participations realized on infrastructures, are previewed to reach a handling of 240.000 teu.

Sogemar moreover has introduced the birth of Oceanogate Italy Spa, new society of railway traction for the transport of the container founded in the 2010 from Sogemar (50%) and Transport Fleeting Emilia Romagna Spa (50%) - TPER (already FER) - than on October 26, 2011, as a result of the obtaining of the Certificate of Safety from the National Agency for Railway Safety, has been able to begin to operate on the territory with own trains.

Oceanogate Italy connects the ports of the Tyrrhenian high and the high Adriatic to the markets of the Italy north and the Europe center.
