Of Appolonia it has introduced an innovative project for the marine fresh water transport



The Italian Of Appolonia, society of group RINA, has introduced the project "Refresh" for the marine transport of fresh water that is realized with the objective to allow a saving on the costs of such activity regarding the transport through tanker and to contribute to resolve the problem of the paucity of the water resources and of the disomogeneità of distribution that characterizes to them and that it among other things regards some European coasts concentrated in the basin of the Mediterranean, in particular those of Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey.

"The Refresh system - Donato Zangani has confirmed, in charge of the Research & development of Of Appolonia and coordinator of the project - is born in order to favor drinkable water supplying to all the coastal communities and the islands that suffer seasonal deficiencies from water, in particular during the summery period. We are proud to have contributed to this project that by sea represents an alternative "green" to the system of the transports beyond to being remarkablly more economic regarding the traditional methods".

With the project Of Appolonia it has developed a special bag dedicated to the transport of great fresh water amounts by sea by means of realized in covered textile material and trainabili flexible containers from a tug. The system, that it takes advantage of the difference of density between fresh water and that salted, affords the floatation of the bag that has a total ability to about 2.000 cubic metres of water. Such technology consists in modular bags interconnected between they through watertight zippers and to most high resistance that is profitable the gestibili modules are singularly, are connected between they.

The first tests - it has explained the company - have given turned out positive about the good operation of the system. The activities in the within of the project are lead by the section Innovation Consulting of Of Appolonia and go under consideration from the design of the details of the system until the coordination of the technical activities of project. The studies, in particular, have been focused on the validity of the planning through the structural analysis of the members of the system, on the hydrodynamic behavior in various operating conditions, the supervision of the integration activities and the development of the prototype.
