Protocol of understanding between the Region Basilicata and the Harbour Authority of Taranto



Today to Potenza, in the center of the Region Basilicata, a protocol of understanding between the regional institution and the Harbour Authority of Taranto has been undersigned that is finalized to promote initiatives and actions of cooperation times to encourage the entrepreneurial ability to the lucane enterprises and the relative tourist and productive rows. The outline of the document undersigned today from the president of the Region, Vito De Filippo, and from the president of the Harbour Authority, Sergio Prete, ingloba and recepisce also the contents of the protocol of understanding for the constitution of the Logistic System of the Port of Taranto that is stipulated last month and to which it has joined also the Region Basilicata ( on 6 December 2012).

With the today's protocol of understanding, the port of Taranto is recognized by the Region Basilicata as natural "marine outlet" da/per the international markets of the numerous lucani productive districts. The Region considers that these productive districts could draw remarkable advantage from the possibility to arrange of specialistic logistics centers for the working and the manipulation of the goods, also perishable, in arrival/departure from the Jonian port of call.

Besides this the Region Basilicata and the Harbour Authority of Taranto intends to promote the collaboration in order to deepen concrete possibilities of sharing of strategies of development deriving from the cooperation between the two agencies and the directly interested economic operators to the use of the areas and the services of the apulian port. The two agencies moreover intend to jointly participate to projects and events, also of international breath, in order to promote and to upgrade the industrial section united and tourist lucano to the logistic offer of the port of Taranto.

E region Harbour Authority, at last, intend to united promote the development of fleeting traffics and crocieristico in the port of Taranto to the tourist offer of the lucane tourist resorts, between these the "recognized Pebbles" of Matera from the Unesco in the Patrimony of the Humanity.

"This protocol of understanding - Sergio Prete has declared - represents an important step aerobic in the distance face to realize the "Logistic System of the Port of Taranto", in which the infrastructures of connection and the harbour areas will be integrated back, a system which to the local governments and managers of the railway nets will participate".

The regional agency of the Basilicata has remembered of being engaged for a long time to promote on own territory the development of the competitiveness of the productive sections that could benefit from the possibility to have of a direct marine outlet on the international markets let alone of logistics centers specialized for the working and the manipulation of the goods. Own with the objective to establish objectives and modality of the future initiatives, the president of the Region has announced the convocation of a table of confronts with the datoriali associations and the Agency of tourist promotion of the Basilicata.
