Bonsignori (Province of Livorno) proposes a single Harbour Authority for the ports of Carrara, Livorno and Piombino



According to the vice president of the Province of Livorno, Fausto Bonsignori, the three main Tuscan ports of Carrara, Livorno and Piombino could be managed from a single Harbour Authority. In a letter sent to the president of the Tuscany Region, Enrico Rossi, Bonsignori have emphasized the importance of the harbour ports of call that - it has specified - "are a fundamental and decisive element for the good course of the Tuscany economy"; but it has evidenced also as "the period of total crisis, some delays in preventing and to understand the fast changes of the economy, some not optimal choices and a infrastructural deficiency upstream, they have contributed to the current difficulties".

"Own in this period, where necessary they would be chosen shared in order to fight the crisis - it has continued the vice president of the Province - assists to an anachronistic debate based on a presumed conflict of interest and rivalry between the ports that are extended to the territories".

Bonsignori therefore has introduced to Rossi own proposal: "we try - it has written - to reason on the fact that the three great Tuscan ports: Carrara, Livorno and Piombino (in alphabetical order) seen their vicinity could be a single harbour system. A great harbour system that has all the potentialities in order to set itself on the market of the international traffics in authoritative way and to be sure more attractive than is not the three taken singularly ports. They could and have take advantage of the characteristic different that they return them complementary and concrete application would be given to sure words too much often said and little which put into practice times: system and synergy".

"It is obvious - it has found Bonsignori - that the system-port of the Tuscany must have a single Harbour Authority in order to govern the balanced development of the three sites of the same port of call". For the representative of the provincial agency, "the new governance, with to an indispensable improvement of the connections between the three harbour sites and towards Europe and to the geographic position in the Mediterranean, could guarantee a future of development".
