the IBAR says not to the increase of the additional tax of boarding of the passengers in departure from the Italian airports



The IBAR (Italian Board Airline Representatives) has criticized the proposal of the National Association of Municipalities (ANCI) to strongly increase the additional tax of boarding of the passengers in departure from the national airports, intention against which the association, that it directly represents 55 operating airlines in Italy and has beyond 100 carriers associated airplane, has announced a firm opposition.

"Also comprising totally the importance of the services that the Municipalities offer to the respective citizenships - it has explained the association - the IBAR considers that an ulterior increase of the additional ones can strongly damage the market of the aerial transport, the Italian economy and the consumers, with ulterior negative repercussions on a field that, on the contrary, would have to be used in order to throw again the economic development of the Country".

"Additional of boarding instituted in Italy in 2003 in order to compensate ENAV for the supported costs in order to guarantee safety to own systems and in order to guarantee operating safety - it has remembered the IBAR - it is introduced as taxation with an initial value of an euro to passenger. Nine years after, in 2012, to the aim financing partially the so-called Fornero Reform, the last increase is previewed that it has carried the additional ones to the current value of 6,50 euros in the Italian airports, with the exception of the ports of call roman where this given is still more high, 7,50 euros to passenger".

"An ulterior increase of two euro, as suggested from the amendments introduced from the ANCI - it has emphasized the president of the IBAR Umberto Solimeno - a field would damage sharply that to hard work is slowly resuming from the effects of the economic crisis and that it would have more rather to be stimulated and supported which pushed for a long-lasting and sustainable economic increase, species in a country to strong tourist vocation as Italy".

The association has evidenced that it is necessary not to forget "that the field of the aerial transport contributes to the economic increase of our Country with a contribution to the GDP pairs to 12,7 million euros (0.8%). Moreover, it employs some 195.000 people, without to for example count the numerous places of work generated in the induced one (in the tourist field). The fiscal withdrawals of money on the field - it has remembered moreover the IBAR - have been already very meaningful: in 2011, the operating airlines in Italy have paid 1,6 billion euros of direct taxes and social insurance contributions, while the passengers have poured 503 million euros in additional of boarding, VAT enclosed".
