To July the port of Genoa has enlivened beyond 4,6 million tons of goods (+2.3%)



Last July the port of Genoa has enlivened beyond 4,6 million tons of goods, with an increase of +2.3% on July 2014. In the segment of the goods several the traffic has been of 2,9 million tons (+1.5%), of which 2,0 million tons of goods in container (+0.4%) pairs to 208.417 teu (+1.9%) and 860 thousand totaled with a handling of containers conventional tons of goods (+3.9%). To signal that last July the Voltri Terminal Europe (VTE) has established the own new record of traffic salary of the container having enlivened 116,142 teu (+6.5%), total that exceeds the precedence in July recorded record 2012 with 113.883 teu. In the field of the liquid bulk, the mineral oils are piled to 1,3 million tons (+5.1%) and the other liquid bulk to 74 thousand tons (- 26.7%), of which 45 thousand chemicals tons of (- 11.9%) and 29 thousand tons of oils vegetables and wine (- 41.8%). The traffic of the solid bulk has attested to 86 thousand tons (+63.9%) to which the traffic enlivened in the industrial field of the steel mills of Cornigliano joins that has been pairs to 203 thousand tons of iron worker (- 4.5%).

To July the 2015 traffic of the passengers is increased of +4.9% to 461 thousand people thanks to the increment of +8.4% of the passengers of the ferries, that they have been pairs to 391 thousand unit, while the crocieristi are diminished of the -11,3% coming down to 70 thousand unit.

In the first seven months of this year the genoese port has enlivened 30,7 million tons of goods, with a progression of +3.3% regarding 29,7 million tons in the January-July period of 2014. The goods several has grown of +4.0% to 18,3 million tons, of which 13,2 million containerized tons of goods (+4.3%) with a container handling pairs to 1.341.534 teu (+6.1%) and 5,1 million conventional tons of goods (+3.4%). The volume of mineral oils is increased of +3.1% almost 9,2 million tons while that of the other liquid bulk is diminished of the -15,4% to 455 thousand tons, of which 293 thousand tons of chemicals (- 7.9%) and 162 thousand tons of oils vegetables and wine (- 26.1%). The solid bulk is piled to 541 thousand tons (+41.6%) to which other 1,6 million tons (- 7.0%), of which 1,5 million tons of iron worker (- 5.9%) and 83 thousand are added in the field industrial tons of solid bulk (- 22.7%).

In the first seven months of the 2015 traffic of the passengers it has been almost 1,4 million people (+2.1%), of which 930 thousand of fleeting crocieristi ferries (+3.2%) and 437 thousand (- 0.3%).

While the Harbour Authority of Genoa has had in donation the preliminary project for the new Tower Pilots of the port of Genoa that is elaborated by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Milan Engineering, Manens Tifs and Gae Engineering and coordinated from the architect senator Renzo Piano. "With the formalizzazione of this action, that it represents an extraordinary gesture of generosity in confronts of the port and of the city - has emphasized the president of the harbour authority, Luigi Merlo - the most modern and efficient structure in a position to guaranteeing to the Body of the Pilots of the port the best conditions will be able soon to be had in order to operate guaranteeing safety and competitiveness. A fundamental passage if it is considered that the next years will see more and more large ships to scale our port. At the same time, the realization of the new Tower - it has added Merlon - will be able to equip the city of a new architectonic, able symbol to still characterize and to increase the beauty of the waterfront genoese. In this way in the next few months the new Tower Pilots could be inserted from the Harbour Authority in the Plan of the works for 2016".
