Light increase (+0.9%) to september of the goods transported by the ships journeyed in the Suez Canal



Last month in the Suez Canal they are journeyed 1,515 ships, with an increment of +3.9% regarding 1.458 in September 2014. The oil tankers in transit are piled to 352 units (+6.0%) and the ships of other type to 1.163 units (+3.3%).

The ships that last month have crossed the channel Egyptian altogether transported 70,6 mlioni of tons of goods, with an increment of +0.9% on september 2014 determined from consisting rise (+13.1%) of transported cargos from the ships journeyed from south towards north, that they are piled to 38,0 million tons, that has more than compensated decrease (- 10.4%) of cargos transported from the ships journeyed in the opposite direction, that they are come down to beyond 32,6 million tons.

In particular, of 38,0 million the tons of goods tons journeyed by south towards north, 10,4 million were constituted by oil and producing oil (to +33.1%) and 27,5 million tons from other types of goods (+7.0%) between which 18,7 million tons of goods in container (- 1.9%). Of 32,6 million the tons of cargos journeyed from north to south, 5,5 million tons were constituted by oil and producing oil (- 24.5%) and 27,1 million tons of other types of goods (- 6.8%) between which 16,3 million tons of containerized cargos (- 3.2%).

In the first nine months of the 2015 Suez Canal it is crossed by 13.114 ships, with an increment of +3.7% on the period January-september last year. The oil tankers have been 3,167 (+5.8%) and the ships of other type 9,947 (+3.1%).

In the period January-september of this year the ships journeyed in the channel transported goods for a total pairs to 620,6 million tons (+1.3%), of which 306,4 million boarded tons on the ships journeyed from south to north (+0.6%) and 314,2 million boarded tons on the ships journeyed in opposite direction (+2.1%).

In particular, of the goods tons journeyed towards north, 73,5 million were constituted by oil and producing oil (- 4.9%) and 232,8 million tons from other types of goods (+2.4%) between which 166,0 million tons of goods in container (- 1.6%). Of the goods tons journeyed towards south, 62,1 million were constituted by oil and producing oil (to +8.0%) and 252,1 million tons from other types of goods (+0.7%) between which 157,9 million tons of containerized cargos (- 0.7%).
