The Bureau International DES Containers ET du Transport Intermodal (bic) has made promoter of the project pilot Technical Characteristics Database (TDC) with the objective of giving to support to the operators of the containerized trade in sight of the effectiveness the next 1° July of the normative new on the certifyd weighing of the container that, put into effect on direct mandate of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), previews that the loaders declare the gross mass verified (VGM) of the container before their boarding. The task to support the Italian operators is conferred to the Council of Intermodal Shipping Consultants (C.I.S.Co.) as national agency of the bic

The database will work as a great data bank created from the same professionals. The owners and the operators will be able to insert the specification, between which the tare, of the containers of they properties or those which enliven. This will facilitate the loaders in uses it of so-called Method 2 in order to verify the gross mass of the containers, that the tare of the container to the weight of the goods and the material of implantation consists in adding.

The navigation companies will on hand have therefore an only database on which to convey all the demands for the single tare weights, while the shippers and the other intermediaries will inside find of the TDC all the information on the containers, eliminating the necessity to visit more websites in order to obtain the data of the weight of the tare or to have to control on the door of every container.

The TCD, that already it is profitable operating, will not be only available through a website, whose address will be communicated in the next weeks and that it will be started experimentally by on 1° July, but will be accessible also through a Application Programming Interface (BEES) for being able to be integrated with the systems of sender and shipper.
