To April the volumes of traffic of the container in the ports of Barcelona and Valencia have grown of +6% and +10%



The Harbour Authorities of Barcelona and Valencia have announced that the traffic of the container enlivened from the two Spanish ports is marking a decided increment. Particular satisfaction for the rise of the activity is expressed by the valenciano agency that it has evidenced as the port has ready repurchased own ability to enliven consisting volumes of containerized trade in import and export as soon as the operations on the docks are returned to normality after the conclusion of the manifestations of protest for the introduction of the new norms on the harbour job that in the past few months have slowed down the activity.

In particular, last month the port of Valencia has enlivened in fact 439,250 teu, with an increment of +10.1% regarding the containerized trade pairs to 398.619 teu enlivened in April 2016. The increase is produced by important increase (+15%) of the container traffic full that has been pairs to 348.000 teu, while the container empty is diminished of the -5,9% to 90.600 teu.

The Harbour Authority of Valencia has specified that the return of the activity on the docks to normal levels has had a positive impact also on the total traffic of the goods that last month has been attested to 6.534.000 tons, with a progression of +5.9% regarding 6.172.000 tons in April 2016.

The impact negative of strikes on the traffic containerizzat is reflected instead on the total of the first quadrimestre of this year as - has specified the harbour agency - in the months of February and March the port has lost a traffic volume pairs to beyond 100.000 teu and is cancelled the ports of call of 18 ships that are diverted towards other Spanish ports. In the first four months of the 2017 port of Valencia it has enlivened 1.526.596 teu, with a bending of the -1,8% regarding 1.554.165 teu in the correspondent period of 2016.

In the first quadrimestre of this year the total traffic of the goods enlivened from the port of Valencia has been pairs to 23,8 million tons regarding 23,7 million in the same period of 2016.

Also the Harbour Authority of Barcelona has rimarcato the increment of the containerized trade recorded from the Catalan port of call announcing that in the first four months of this year they are enlivened beyond 864.500 teu, with an increment of +26% regarding the first quadrimestre of 2016. The increase, to which it has contributed a flow of traffic diverted from Valencia, has been a lot consisting in the first three months of January, February and March, with rises respective of +13%, +49% and +39%, while last month the increase trend has quickly an attenuation coming down to +6%.

The harbour authority of Barcelona has specified that in the first four months of the 2017 containerized trade in export, pairs almost 231 thousand teu, have marked an increase of +10%, while that in import - pairs to 177 thousand teu - has grown of +4%. In rise (+2%) it has turned out also the traffic of cabotage with the Baleari islands and the Canaries and very important it has been increase (+90%) of the traffic of transhipment that it has been pairs to 238.279 teu.
