In the first trimester of 2018 boarded cargos on the ships journeyed in the Suez Canal have grown of +3.8%



In the first three months of this year the total volume of the goods transported from the ships that are journeyed in the period in the Suez Canal has been of 223,7 million tons, figure that the new record to the first trimester relatively constitutes of the year and that it represents an increment of +3.8% regarding the first trimester of 2017 when was marked the precedence record with 215,5 million tons. We remember that the quarterly record historical absolute is established in the fourth trimester of 2017 with a total of beyond 240,7 million tons of boarded cargos on the ships that in the period have crossed the channel Egyptian.

The new maximum peak for the first trimester of the year is recorded thanks to the records of cargo on the ships journeyed in the direction north-south is on those journeyed in the opposite direction. In the first three months of 2018 on the ships directed to south tons of goods were boarded 113,6 million, with a progression of +0.2% on the first trimester of 2017 when the precedence was totaled record with 113,5 million tons, while on the ships directed to north tons were boarded 110,1 million, with an increase of +7.8% on the first trimester of a 2017 and increase of +7.4% on the previous record marked in the first trimester of 2016 with the 102,5 million one tons.

Relatively to the goods journeyed on the ships directed to south, the oil cargo volume of oil and producing have turned out pairs to 23,0 million tons, inferiors - regarding the first trimester of the year - to the single total of 27,7 million tons of the first trimester of 2017 (- 17.1%), while the cargo volume of other type has reached the quota record of 90,6 million tons, with an increment of +5.8% on the previous record established in the first trimester of 2017. About the sun goods containerized, a total is recorded record of 57,8 million tons, with an increase of +3.0% on the previous record of first trimester 2017.

Relatively to the goods journeyed on the ships directed to north, the oil cargos of oil and producing are gone up to the quota record of 28,8 million tons, with a rise of +8.6% on the previous record of the first trimester of 2017, while the cargos of other type are piled to 81,3 million tons, with an increase of +7.5% on the first trimester of the 2017 (record is recorded in the first trimester of 2008 with the 84,9 million one tons). The single containerized cargos have reached the quota record of 59,7 million tons (+7.0% on the first trimester of 2017), inferior volume only to absolute the historical record of 80,5 million containerized tons transported by the directed ships that have crossed the channel to north in the third trimester of 2017.

In the first three months of this year the channel Egyptian is crossed altogether by 4.174 ships, with a bending of the -0,1% on the same period of 2017, for a total volume of net tonnage (short tons) that it has turned out pairs to 260,2 million tons (+9.0%). The oil tankers have been 1,069 (- 5.1%) for 44,2 million short tons (- 3.2%) and the ships of other type 3,105 (+1.7%) for 216,0 million short tons (+11.9%).

In the single freedom of expression of 2018 in the channel they are journeyed 1,450 ships (- 4.9% on March 2017) for 88,9 million short tons (+5.0%), of which 352 oil tankers (- 17.2%) for 14,4 million short tons (- 15.8%) and 1,098 ships of other type (- 0.1%) for 74,5 million short tons (+10.3%).

Last month the journeyed ships transported altogether 75,9 million tons of goods (- 2.4%), of which 39,8 million tons of boarded cargos on the ships directed to south (- 3.3%) and 36,2 million tons of boarded cargos on the ships directed to north (- 1.4%).
