To August, month funestato from collapse of Morandi Bridge, the traffic of the goods in the port of Genoa is diminished of -15,4%



In the second half last month of August the port of Genoa has accused the important impact negative of collapse of the viaduct Morandi Bridge that has happened on 14 August and that it has caused the dead women of 43 people, disaster that has cut in two the highway artery that the genoese chief town from east to the west crosses and that it has in fact isolated the basin of Sampierdarena in the part oriental of the harbour port of call from the western basin of Prà-Voltri that more they are not connected by a directed street connection. Moreover collapse has provoked the interruption of the railway line that crosses the Valpolcevera and that it mainly connects the port with the markets of beyond Apennines, line whose reopening is previewed in order the day after tomorrow.

In the entire month of August of the 2018 port of Genoa it has enlivened 3,83 million tons of goods, with a bending of the -15,4% that is determined by the contraction of all the types of traffic with the exception of that of the goods conventional that they have recorded an increase of +0.6% on August 2017 attesting to 824 thousand tons.

Last August in the field of the container the traffic has been of 1,70 million tons, with a decrease of the -17,9%, total that is realized with a handling of containers pairs to 181.863 teu (- 16.6%). Relatively to the containerized trade enlivened from the main terminals of the port of call, last August more consisting the impact negative is recorded to the terminal VTE that is found in the harbour area of Prà-Voltri and that it has enlivened 102,205 teu, with a decrease of -24,5%. Between the terminals situated in the harbour area of Sampierdarena, terminal SECH is the only one to have marked an increment of the traffic having enlivened 25,590 teu (+17.2%); decreasing, instead, it has turned out the traffic of the container to the multipurpose terminal Messina, that it has totaled 19,440 teu (- 4.9%%), so as that enlivened Genoa Port Terminal, that it has closed August with 28.113 teu (- 10.9%).

Last August the traffic of the solid bulk in the commercial field of the port is dropped of the -35,6% to 23 thousand tons and that in the industrial segment is diminished of the -39,4% to 125 thousand tons. In the section of the liquid bulk the traffic of mineral oils is piled to 1,02 million tons (- 17.6%) and that of the other liquid bulk to 46 thousand tons (- 28.7%), of which 37 thousand tons of chemicals (- 10.1%) and 8 thousand tons of oils vegetables and wine (- 62.7%). Down also the supplies of bunkers and supplies of edge that have been pairs to 95 thousand tons (- 3.3%).

In the field of the passengers, in which the programming of the activity it is more rigid above all in periods of peak as that of Mid-August holiday, the number of the people journeyed in the port of Genoa last August has grown of +4.3% to 660 thousand unit, of which 94 thousand in the segment of cruises (+5.2%) and 566 thousand in that of ferries (+4.2%).

In the first eight months of this year the total traffic of the goods has turned out pairs to 36,99 million tons, with an increase of +0.8% on the correspondent period of 2017, and that of the passengers to 2,14 million people (+2.8%).
