Intercargo invokes a greater involvement of the marine industry in the deliberations of the IMO



In occasion of the reunions of the shareholders' meeting of the association and its technical and directive committees, than mondays and yesterday to London, Intercargo have held, the international organization that represents shipowners that manage ships for the transport of loaded buckets, is examined various topics that interest the activity of the operators of the field, between which the introduction beginning from on January 1°, 2020 of the limit of 0.5% of the sulfur tenor in fuel used from the ships as established from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) with the introduction of amendments to Annexed YOU of the Convention Marpol (International Conventiomn for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships).

The shipowning association has restated the worry of the marine industry about the effective availability at the beginning of 2020 of consistent fuel to the norms, alarm that - Intercargo has complained - is garbled also to level IMO. In the within of the shareholders' meeting of Intercargo while the new president and the two vices president of the association are elected who will assume the assignment of biennial duration next 1° January. New president is Dimitris Fafalios, that subentrerà in the charge to John Platsidakis. The new vices president are Jay K Pillai, that he is confirmed in the assignment, and Spyros Tarassis.
