The port of Trieste is front man of the Banana4growth project



In recent days in the port of Trieste a cargo of 22 tons of coming bananas from the India is disembarked that will be donated to 51 thousand indigent people of the Region Friuli Venice Julia and Veneto. The initiative, introduced today to Pasian di Prato near the center of the Association Alimentary Bench of the Friuli Venice Julia, is born from "Banana4growth", project of deep cooperation to the development co-financed with regional of which the Authority of Harbour System of Mare Adriatico Orientale she is partner front man with the University of Udine, the University of Tamil Nadu and the Association of the banana Producers of the Tamil Nadu, coadiuvati from the operator Avieko Trading GmbH.

With a budget total of 150 thousand euros, of which 90 thousand financed from the Region Friuli Venice Julia, Banana4growth aimed to help the banana producers of the Tamil Nadu, State in the South of India, the realization of processes of more modern, confacenti production and transport to the standards of quality and timelinesses demanded from the markets foreign countries, accelerating so the economic development of those territories.

India is the first producer to the banana world. However, because of the modalities of production and transport, these are not commercializzabili abroad. Primary objective of the initiative has been therefore the construction of a prototype of belt conveyor in order to transfer bananas from the field of collection in faster and efficient way, preserving the quality of the produced one. Crucial role has been classified also to the specific formation on the logistic organization for the transport of the goods from India to Trieste, characterized as port of call of destination in order to reach the European market.

"Banana4growth - the president of the AdSP of Mare Adriatico Orientale has explained, Zeno D' Augustin - succeeds to conjugate some of the aspects that are typical of the strategies of the ports: the innovation of process, the international transportations, the portualità and also the solidarity. We hope that the project exceeds the experimental phase and can be developed with success".

Relatively to the cargo of bananas joined in recent days to Trieste, be a matter itself of a shipment "pilot", the Authority of Harbour System has made promotrice of its donation the Association Bench To feed of the Friuli Venice Julia that provvederà to distribute it to the indigent people of the territory through the 341 operating within the national health service caritative structures to the various beneficial associations of the Friuli Venice Julia and Veneto.
