Eni agreement, CDP, Fincantieri and Terna for the development on industrial scale of systems of production of energy from billowy motion



The managing director of Bank of Deposits and Loans (CDP), Fabrizio Palermo, the managing director of Fincantieri, Giuseppe Bono, the managing director of Tern, Luigi Ferraris, and the managing director of Eni, Claudio Descalzi, has signed today, in the Eni center to the EUR of Rome, a not binding agreement for the development and the realization on industrial scale of systems of production of energy from the waves of the sea. The understanding has the scope to join the competences of each society to the aim to transform the project pilot Inertial Sea Wave Energy Converter (ISWEC), the innovative system of production of energy from the installed billowy motion from Eni in the offshore one of Ravenna and currently in production, a realizable project on industrial scale and therefore of immediate application and uses.

In the earlier stage, the agreement previews the ingegnerizzazione of the construction, installation and maintenance of the ISWEC. This phase will carry to the planning and the realization within 2020 of a first industrial installation connected to a site of offshore production Eni. Parallel, the extension of the technology will be estimated on ulterior sites in Italy, in particular in proximity of the smaller islands, with the realization of systems of industrial size for supply of completely renewable electric power.

According to the terms of the agreement, Eni will put on of the combined working group the results of the pilot plant ISWEC, developed in synergy with the Polytechnic of Turin and the spin-off Wave for Energy and will supply own technological, industrial and commercial know-how-how, besides to make available the logistic and technological opportunities of own systems offshore. "The agreement today - it has explained the CEO of the Eni group, Claudio Descalzi - represents an important step forward towards the realization on industrial scale of a new system of production of renewable energy from the billowy motion. This understanding join in our strategic plan of decarbonizzazione and are born from the strong focus of Eni in the search, development and application of new technologies, finalized to not only return more efficient operating processes conventional but that they push to us also to create new segments of business in the energetic within. The collaboration with three Italian excellence, which CDP, Terna and Fincantieri, will allow to put to factor common the great existing competences and to accelerate the process of development and industrialization of this technology, with the objective to explore abroad with possible projects on wide scale also".

Task of Bank of Deposits and Loans will be to promote the project with Public Administration and the involved institutions and to place own competences on hand economic-financial institutions, also to the aim to estimate the most adequate financial forms than support of the initiative. "The industrial plan of CDP - the managing director Fabrizio Palermo has asserted - strongly is oriented to the sustainable development, online with the great total trends and the defined Objectives of sustainable Development from Agenda 2030 of the UN. The project, therefore, is coherent with our strategy and, together with partner as Eni, Fincantieri and Terna, will be able to contribute in concrete way to the development of innovative an Italian technology and to the spread of the sources of renewable generation, for the benefit of the Country and of the collectivity".

From part its Fincantieri will offer own typical industrial and technical competences of the naval realizations for the optimization of the phases of executive planning, construction and installation of the production units. "Fincantieri - it has evidenced Giuseppe Bono - constantly is engaged in the improvement of the naval systems that guarantee the maximum respect of the atmosphere and this agreement, that it will carry to industrialization of a solution in order to generate energy cleaned from the same force of the sea, get passionate to us and all Italian returns us trusting for the ability to look to the future".

Tern will contribute to develop the relative studies to the best modalities than connection and integration of the system of production of energy with the net electrical worker, included integration with the systems hybrids composed from conventional generation, fotovoltaici systems of production and systems of storage there.
