In 2019, passenger traffic in the port of Genoa, which is operated by Maritime Spa Stations, was 3.52 million 13.8% on the previous year. Activity in the cruise segment has seen a new historical record with a total of 1.35 million passengers (up 33.4%) and the increase in passenger traffic from the which amounted to 2.17 million units 4.2%.

In particular, last year in the cruise industry, Port of Liguria totaled 281 ships compared to 229 in the 2018 and passenger traffic was 711 thousand cruisers as home ports (565 thousand in 2018) and 638 thousand cruisers in transit (445 thousand in 2018). As for the traffic brought to the port of Genoa by the main cruise companies customers of the decline, in 2019 the ships of MSC Cruises made 203 touches (188 in 2018) with over 1.1 million passengers (946 thousand in 2018), Costa Cruises' ships, who last year went back to climbing the Genoa port, made 41 touched and more than 178 thousand passengers and those of Princess Cruises made 10 touches (12 in 2018) and more 28,000 passengers as well as in the previous year. Stations Maritime also highlighted confirmation of the presence in Genoa Disney Cruise Line, which in 2019 made three stops for a total of about 7,500 passengers transited as well as in the previous year.

About ferry traffic, services to and from Sardinia have moved some 1.13 million people into the port of Genoa passengers, up 10.6% from 1.02 million in 2018, while the other destinations have suffered declines: Sicily, with 423,000 fewer passengers, registered about 11,000 fewer, Corsica, with 198 thousand passengers, about 5,000 fewer passengers and the other destinations (North Africa and Spain), with 417 thousand passengers, about 3,700 fewer units.

In total, the cars carried by ferries were 748 thousand (4.3%) and the bikes 59 thousand (4.8%). Commercial traffic, with 1.79 million linear meters, marked a decrease in the -4,6%.

By 2020, Maritime Stations expects an increase in ferry traffic, with values that will be based on a 2%, while cruise traffic is expected to register an increase: 280 stopovers are expected with about 1.40 million of cruisers, of which 750 thousand as home ports and 650 thousand in transit. MSC will confirm its role as the largest operator in Genoa carrying about 1.17 million passengers with 204 stopovers. Costa Cruises will place every Friday from March to November the Costa Pacifica ship on Genoa and, together with other company ships, in 2020 will be carried out 41 stopovers for a traffic of about 170,000 passengers. Stations Maritime stodie has announced that Costa Crociere has confirmed the presence Genoa for the next three years.
