The Grimaldi Group has acquired 90% of the shares of the Sicilian trucking company Brucato De.T.A. The operation was announced on the occasion of the international summit " XXV Euromed Convention From Land to Sea", running until Sunday, which was organised by the shipowning group and Neapolitan logistics to celebrate its 75 years and that brought together in Sorrento 800 top players in the institutional world, finance, logistics, ports and transport. Focus of the convention is the process of energy transition, which must be supported by a sound international strategy in terms of emission reduction.

The meeting has among its central themes the extension to the EU shipping ETS, the Emissions Trading System of the European Union. As evidenced by the international representatives of the shipowning industry, the group Grimaldi believes that if on the one hand the ETS has the merit of also stimulate non-European countries to apply measures similar, on the other hand, it would be necessary to stem the risk of uneven and fragmented regulations that ultimately they would lose their effectiveness. Even the Italian company believes, therefore, than to achieve the objective of decarbonising the maritime transport would preferable the introduction of directives by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

With regard to the development of operational activity and Grimaldi, the group's CEO, Emanuele Grimaldi, highlighted that in the last 12 months the the group's main shipping companies have registered the best performance ever. "It is - he underlined - of an important result, achieved with a shrewd policy of investments, with the reduction of fleet consumption equal to 500,000 tons of fuel, with the research and development of new naval technologies and with the great impulse we have given terminal and logistics activities'. Activity of the group, with a fleet of over 130 ships and a staff about 17,000 units, which has recently expanded to the Far East: "thanks to the recent activation of a regular service between Europe and the Far East for the transport of vehicles - Grimaldi recalled - today we can celebrate our 75 years of activity with the flag of the Grimaldi group that it flies on all the seas and on all five continents."
