
U.S. cruise group Viking Holdings has closed
the 2024 annual year with revenues of $5.33 billion,
with an increase of +13.2% on the previous year, of which 4.97
billions generated by the sale of cruises and excursions
(+13.4%) and €362.6 million from sales on board ships (+10.9%).
In addition, the total revenues deriving from river cruises alone
operations by the group amounted to €2.65 billion (+13.4%) and those
from ocean cruises at $2.20 billion
(+12,9%). Operating profit stood at 1.08 billion
(+31.7%) and net income at $140.7 million compared to a
net loss of -1.86 billion in 2023 mainly determined
financial losses.
Last year, Viking's fleet of 82 ships (79 in the
2023) including 11 ocean-going units (9) and 71 units
(70), hosted a total of 635 thousand passengers
(+4.1%), of which 382 thousand on river ships (+4.1%) and 253 thousand on
ocean-going ships (+4.1%).
In the fourth quarter of 2024 alone, the group's revenues
stood at $1.35 billion, up +20.5% on the
same period of the previous year, of which 1.26 billion
products from the sale of cruises and excursions (+21.0%) and
€89.1 million from sales on board ships (+13.9%). Revenues
generated by river cruises totaled 717.1 million
(+25.9%) and those generated by ocean cruises 511.5 million
(+17,1%). Operating profit was 230.9 million
dollars (+46.3%) and net income of 104.2 million compared to a
net loss of -€593.8 million in the October-December quarter of
2023.
Commenting on these results, the president and director
Viking delegate, Torstein Hagen, recalled that during the
2025 the Group will increase the capacity of the
fleet in which 11 new ships will be introduced, including one
ocean ship and ten river vessels, and announced that
currently the booking level covers 88% of cruises
scheduled for the whole of 2025.
