  • Victoria proposes rail safety regime
    Train operators in Victoria could face new safety accreditation fees and requirements under options being considered to achieve safer rail operations in Victoria released for comment by the Victorian government's Public Transport Safety Directorate.
    Under the proposed regulations operators will be subject to an application fee of $5000 an a minimum annual fee of $5000 to recover administration costs of the new accreditation scheme.

    New Zealand ports are much better businesses today following privatisation than they were a decade ago according to port of Tauranga chairman Fraser McKenzie. He said that after privatisation, NZ port companies became interested in being competitive not just nationally, but internationally and directors and management had to see the company perform for the benefit of the shareholder and the customer.
