Contraints et forcés par les développements dans l'industrie pétrolière et chimique, les deux compagnies ont finalement annoncé qu'elles allaient quand même fusionner, malgré le fait que les négociations entamées à ce sujet avaient avorté il y a quelques mois. Le nom inventé l'année dernière pour désigner la nouvelle entité fusionnée - Vopak - a été conservé.

    La navigation fluviale a la réputation de n'être intéressante que pour les marchandises peu coûteuses transportées sur longue distance.   • Le "London II" à double paroi rejoint la flotte de soutage
    La flotte de soutage active dans l'estuaire de l'Escaut sera renforcée par une nouvelle unité, le "London II", à partir d'aujourd'hui. Le citernier à double paroi a été officiellement baptisé vendredi après-midi par Catherine Konings de BP Marine Antwerpen dans le Straatsburgdok, en présence d'un public nombreux. La coque du navire a été construite par le chantier Orszowa conformément aux prescriptions de Germanischer Lloyd (normes ADNR de type C pour le transport de produits dangereux) et aux règlements rhénans. La finition a été confiée à Nieuwe Scheldewerven en coopération avec des fournisseurs belges et néerlandais.
