  • Fednav désormais mieux à même d'aborder le marché des panamax
    Le groupe maritime canadien Fednav, entre autres, le plus important exploitant de services de lignes régulières en conventionnel/breakbulk, entre l'Europe du Nord, principalement Anvers, et les Grands Lacs, vient de vendre sa participation de 50% dans l'armement Navios Corporation de Stamford. Cette transaction n'était pas prévue initialement. Il semble que la proposition faite par un groupe composé d'investisseurs "Saltchuk Resources" de Seattle et Levant Maritime Cy, affilié au groupe grec Leventis, qui avait incité un autre actionnaire de Navios, en l'occurrence Citicorp Venture Capital, à vendre, à eu raison des hésitations de Fednav. La transaction porte sur toutes les filiales de Navios.

    La nouvelle Commissaire aux Transports, Loyola de Palacio, a rencontré récemment la délégation générale de l'IRU auprès de l'UE à Bruxelles. Celle-ci lui a fait savoir sa position dans deux dossiers qu'elle considère comme prioritaire: la nécessité d'arriver à une meilleure harmonisation des contrôles sur les temps de conduite et de repos (l'interprétation différente de la réglementation est source de distorsion de la concurrence) et à une meilleure harmonisation des interdictions de circuler les dimanches et jours fériés.
