Lloyd Triestino opte pour MSC comme partenaire sur l'Afrique de l'Ouest et du Sud Est-ce le fait que l'armement SCL, avec lequel il collaborait sur la route entre la Méditerranée et l'Afrique de l'Ouest et du Sud, a été repris par Mærsk Line ou qu'il lui était difficile, via cette collaboration, de s'imposer dans les trafics au départ de l'Europe du Nord, toujours est-il que Lloyd Triestino, filiale d'Evergreen, a changé son fusil d'épaule et opté sur cette liaison pour une collaboration sous forme de location de slots avec Mediterranean Shipping Cy (MSC). La crue des eaux coûte des millions à la navigation rhénane Suite à la crue des eaux, la navigation fluviale sur le Rhin supérieur est confrontée à un manque à gagner qui se chiffre en centaines de millions. Depuis plus d'un mois, la navigation est pratiquement paralysée entre Karlsruhe et Bâle. Le niveau des eaux se situe tantôt au-dessus, tantôt en-dessous du "Marke II", le niveau qui détermine l'interdiction de navigation. Philippe Trépant: "Auto-Oil va provoquer la fermeture de raffineries en Europe" Philippe Trépant, président de l'Union française des Industries pétrolières, s'attend à ce que la réduction de la pollution et le programme "Auto-Oil" vont provoquer un assainissement dans le secteur du raffinage, assainissement qui ne s'est jamais réellement produit ces trente dernières années. Cela aura un impact important sur le transport, entre autres au niveau du rallongement des distances à parcourir pour la distribution des produits pétroliers. Il ne croit pas, toutefois, que cela provoquera un transfert modal. Par contre, il prévoit que la pression du marché sur les prestataires de service - dont le transport - pour qu'ils continuent à abaisser le "point mort" (ou point d'équilibre), restera grande. La mise en tunnel du deuxième accès ferroviaire au port d'Anvers serait la pire des solutions Le gouvernement flamand a récemment confirmé une décision d'avril 1998 concernant le deuxième accès ferroviaire au port d'Anvers, à savoir l'option de sa mise en tunnel. Tant du point de vue technique que financier, c'est assurément la plus mauvaise solution. De plus, étant donné l'extrême complication des travaux, il est quasiment certain que les travaux ne pourront pas commencer avant 2001 et encore moins être terminés pour 2005. On parle même de 2008.
