    "Notre budget est malheureusement limité, soit 5 mia. de BEF, ce qui est insuffisant pour garantir la qualité du réseau fluvial flamand et exécuter le programme d'investissement que nous voudrions. Néanmoins, le trafic fluvial progresse de 10% cette année, progression qui se manifeste surtout dans le domaine des containers, ceci grâce aux croissances enregistrées à Anvers et Zeebrugge. A Anvers, 60% du fret est acheminé par voie d'eau et dans le cas des containers il s'agit de 30%. C'est la raison pour laquelle nous construisons un réseau de terminaux à containers fluviaux et intermodaux sur courtes distances". C'est ce qu'a déclaré Jan Strubbe, directeur général des Voies fluviales et maritimes de la Flandre lors du débat qui clôtura la visite à Anvers vendredi dernier de la Conférence permanente des Chambres de Commerce et d'Industrie françaises et belges.

    ABX Logistics a annoncé l'acquisition d'une participation de 75% dans la société philippine Pan Globe Cargo Express, ce qui lui permet de mieux desservir cette zone d'Asie. Par ailleurs, il a été annoncé que les diverses filiales d'ABX, Dubois et Saima-Avandero dans le fret aérien en Asie vont être fusionnées. ABX est déjà présent dans cette région du monde grâce aux bureaux overseas hérités via l'acquisition de Thyssen Haniel Logistics.
  • Reprise du travail à Gand, où la menace de grève subsiste
    Les ouvriers portuaires gantois ont repris le travail lundi matin. Les syndicats socialiste UBOT et chrétien CVD continuent néanmoins à exiger une rémunération plus élevée pour le travail de shift, les samedis, dimanches et jours férriés (voir 16/10). Ils attendent une réponse aujourd'hui même et brandissent la menace d'une nouvelle grève si cette réponse n'est pas satisfaisante. Daniël Termont, l'échevin du port, est pessimiste quant à la suite des événements.

    "Depuis la création de l'entreprise le 19 octobre 1939, nous avons toujours été fondamentalement axés sur la fonction d'agent maritime. La crise, l'effondrement des taux de fret et les rationalisations qui s'opèrent dans les milieux armatoriaux ont fait que nous nous diversifions, mais toujours dans le prolongement de cette fonction d'agent maritime, en créant ces jours-ci la société "European Shipping and Logistics", qui sera opérationnelle début novembre et est appelée à devenir une vaste organisation de back-office/logistique à l'échelle européenne." C'est ce que nous a déclaré Eliane Achten, administrateur-gérante de l'agence maritime van Doosselaere & Achten, qui fête ces jours-ci le 60e anniversaire de sa fondation.
