Ceci fera de cette alliance le cinquième plus grand transporteur terrestre d'Europe. "Il s'agit d'une alliance dont les objectifs sont opérationnels, et non capitalistiques", nous a déclaré Eric Peigné, le directeur des transports terrestres de Gefco. Dans la pratique, cela revient à une prise de contrôle des activités terrestres de KN par Gefco. Dans l'overseas, il a été décidé de coopérer plus intimement, sans que cela ne mène - pour l'instant - à des prises de participations réciproques.

    Le Conseil d'administration du Port Autonome de Marseille (PAM) vient d'approuver le lancement immédiat d'un plan d'investissement qui s'élève à 24 mio. d'EUR (près de 160 mio. de FRF). L'effort principal (plus d'un tiers du total) porte sur les trafics containérisés. Mais le développement de la Zone Industrielle de Fos-Lavéra (produits chimiques) est également bien servi et les Bassins Est (le port traditionnel) aussi.
  • Escales d'essai du service CEM à Zeebrugge
    Le port de Zeebrugge sera desservi - à titre d'essai - par les navires alignés par Lloyd Triestino et Evergreen sur le nouveau service CEM (China Europe Mediterranean Service) jusqu'à la fin du mois d'août. Il s'agit de sept escales au total. Après une évalutation, il sera décidé si le port côtier belge aura la préférence sur Anvers en tant que dernier port d'escale de ce service en Europe du Nord-ouest. La rotation du service CEM - une adaptation du service AME d'Evergreen - sera définitivement fixée dans les semaines à venir. Il est déjà établi que le port d'escale scandinave Gothenburg ne sera plus desservi en direct mais sera remplacé par Rotterdam. Côté asiatique, le service desservira trois ports outre Hong-Kong (LL du 18/6/99): Qingdao, Shanghai et Ningbo. L'escale méditerranéenne de Gioia Taura sera à terme remplacée par Tarante, un port où Evergreen réalise d'importants investissements dans un propre hub. Le service CEM est animé par 10 navires. La rotation prend 63 jours. La photo montre le "Nueva Genova" de Lloyd Triestino à hauteur de la digue Léopold II à Zeebrugge lors de sa première escale du port côtier belge.
  • Les résultats semestriels d'Eurotunnel sont conformes aux prévisions
    Eurotunnel a enregistré des résultats satisfaisants au cours des six premiers mois de l'année. Le CA a augmenté de 16% à 327 mio. de GBP. Les revenus opérationnels ont également augmenté de 16%, principalement grâce à la hausse des recettes des services des navettes. Le déficit net a été ramené à 64 mio. de GBP grâce à la hausse du bénéfice opérationnel, la baisse des charges d'intérêts et des fluctuations avantageuses du change. Les effets de la suppression des ventes hors taxes n'étant pas chiffrables, les responsables d'Eurotunnel se refusent à toute prévision pour 1999.
