    Les négociations entre les employeurs portuaires gantois et les syndicats de dockers UBOT et CVD ont finalement échoué mercredi soir. Les syndicats ont rejeté les contre-propositions des employeurs pour l'organisation et la rémunération du travail en weekend, la cause officielle du conflit portuaire. Le port a immédiatement été frappé par une deuxième grève générale des dockers en deux semaines. L'interruption du travail devrait durer jusqu'à lundi matin, sauf si un compromis devait intervenir dans les tout prochains jours. Cette deuxième grève générale ne devrait pas se poursuivre au-delà de ce terme. Pour la semaine prochaine, UBOT et CVD parlent d'actions ciblées et de grèves du zèle.
  • Ceres veut traiter 2,5 mio. de TEU à Amsterdam en 2005
    Le 21 octobre restera une date importante dans l'histoire du port d'Amsterdam. En effet, le groupe américain Ceres, qu'anime le manutentionnaire Chris Kritikos, vient de lancer les travaux pour la construction d'un grand terminal à containers. Cette installation sera tributaire d'écluses et se présentera sous la forme d'un long quai rectiligne de 650 mètres dans l'Amerikadok, à l'extrémité duquel sera construite une darse de quelque 400 mètres de longueur dans laquelle pourra prendre place un porte-containers allant jusqu'à 8.000 TEU. De chaque côté de cette darse seront installés des portiques post-panamax classiques devant assurer des opérations rapides allant jusqu'à 300 containers par heure.
  • Pas de transport combiné sans transport routier
    L'ESC Shipper Conference, tenu cette semaine à Marseille, a prêté beaucoup d'attention aux besoins intermodaux des chargeurs et transporteurs routier. En effet, les chargeurs sont demandeurs d'un mode de transport alternatif, bien qu'il semble qu'ils ne l'utilisent pas tellement pour autant. Gunnar Bjerde, le président de Volvo Transport, estime que cela est attribuable à une politique défaillante, tant chez les transporteurs que chez les chargeurs. Et bien que les instances européennes s'efforcent de promouvoir le transport combiné, le transport routier continuera de progresser, a déclaré Maarten Lubberton, représentant européen de l'IRU. Pour la simple raison que le transport routier est un maillon indispensable dans n'importe quel type de transport combiné. Raison pour laquelle, l'Europe doit investir d'urgence dans de nouvelles infrastructures routières.
