  • Further slick from Erika nears French coastline
THERE were fears yesterday that the already extensive pollution off the French coast could be compounded by the arrival of a new oil slick formed by heavy fuel oil escaping from the aft section of the sunken tanker Erika, which broke up in heavy seas off the Brittany coast writes Andrew Spurrier.
