  • Stena Line recule sur (presque) tous les fronts
    Le groupe suédois Stena Line a subi de plein fouet les effets de l'abrogation des ventes hors taxes sur les liaisons maritimes à l'intérieur de l'Union européenne en date du 1er juillet de l'année dernière. Son chiffre d'affaires sur l'ensemble de l'exercice 1999 a chuté de 7,55 à 6,96 milliards de SEK et son bénéfice opérationnel de 152 à 6 millions de SEK. Le résultat avant impôts est resté fortement déficitaire à 496 mio. de SEK (contre 324 mio. de SEK en 1998). Le nombre de passagers ayant emprunté un des services ferry du groupe en Scandinavie ou sur les routes desservant les îles britanniques a diminué de 6%. Mais les trafics de voitures et de fret se sont inscrits en légère progression (si l'on ne tient pas compte de la ligne Halmstaad-Grenaa entre la Suède et le Danemark, fermée fin 99). A l'exception des résultats financiers, ces chiffres ne tiennent pas compte des résultats enregistrés dans le secteur transmanche, où le groupe suédois coopère dans la joint-venture P&OSL.
  • Rhin d'Acier: la Belgique dit oui à une étude d'incidence pour une mise en service accélérée
    La récente rencontre entre les ministres néerlandaise et belge des Transports Tineke Netelenbos et Isabelle Durant concernant le Rhin d'Acier a fait quelque peu avancer le dossier. Du côté belge, on accepte la demande néerlandaise d'une étude d'incidence sur l'environnement (MER) concernant le passage de trains sur le tracé historique, donc à travers la "zone de silence" du Meinweg. Mais cette étude sera menée plus promptement que ce qu'avançaient les Néerlandais: elle devrait être terminée pour 2001 au lieu de 2003. En conséquence, les trains pourraient déjà circuler fin 2001, début 2002.
