    Trimodal Container Terminal, qui est implanté en bordure du canal maritime de Bruxelles et qui est né d'une joint-venture entre RCT Verbeke et l'opérateur néerlandais de terminaux ECT, et Puurs Inland Terminal Zeekanaal, une division de la firme ODTH, vont collaborer à partir de lundi prochain. Les premiers contacts entre Geert Verbeke (TCT) et Jos Dewael (ODTH) au sujet d'une telle collaboration étaient restés sans résultat, mais sous l'impulsion de la NV Zeekanaal, qui gère la voie d'eau maritime, ces contacts ont repris et ont finalement abouti à l'accord en question. Toutes les activités seront concentrées sur le terminal de TCT, où ODTH se chargera de l'entreposage, tandis que TCT assurera le transbordement de containers.

    Un article dans le "Frankfurter Allgemeine" a relancé la valse des rumeurs concernant les concentrations dans le secteur du camion. Selon notre confrère, le président de Fiat, Paolo Fresco, a déclaré être intéressé par l'acquisition de MAN Nutzfahrzeuge. De plus, il aurait dit être intéressé par une acquisition de Nissan Diesel. Ces informations ont toutefois été démenties. Il n'empêche que si ces opérations devaient tout de même avoir lieu,elles répondraient à une logique certaine.

    La Hamburger Hafen und Lagerhausgesellschaft (HHLA) a poursuivi sur son élan l'an passé. L'exercice a été clôturé sur un bénéfice de 45,4 millions de DEM, un peu moins que le bénéfice record de 46,5 mio. de DEM enregistré en 1998. Le groupe, y compris les filiales et accords de collaboration, a réalisé l'an dernier un chiffre d'affaires de 810,9 mio. de DEM, a annoncé le président Peter Dietrich lors d'une conférence de presse.

    Le gouvernement français va consacrer chaque année 20 millions de FRF (3,05 mio. d'EUR) à la diminution des coûts supportés par les places portuaires pour développer les navettes ferroviaires avec leur arrière-pays. Parallèlement, des facilités fiscales vont être mises en place afin de renforcer la compétitivité des ports. Dans le même temps, ces derniers devront concerter leur développement afin d'éviter la concurrence stérile.
