    Le groupe de transport Corneel Geerts prévoit une augmentation de 25% - voire davantage - cette année-ci, grâce à l'obtention de deux nouveaux contrats pan-européens. En 1999, par contre, ce chiffre d'affaires n'a pas progressé par rapport à 1998, demeurant à 1,25 mia. de BEF. "Malgré la forte hausse du diesel, nous avons réussi à atteindre un résultat tout juste en dessous de zéro", nous a déclaré Corneel Geerts. Pour cette année, il prévoit la poursuite de la mise sur pied d'un système de transport pan-européen faisant appel tant aux semi-remorques qu'au ro-ro. Tout comme l'année passée, il se plaint qu'aucune solution n'a encore pu être trouvée au problème de manque de qualité du transport combiné entre l'Italie et la Belgique.

    Ainsi qu'évoqué récemment dans ces colonnes, l'Union européenne et la Corée du Sud ont conclu un accord sur la construction navale, l'objectif étant d'assainir le secteur au niveau mondial et de mettre un terme à certaines pratiques de dumping dont les Sud-Coréens ont le secret. L'accord en question porte sur une transparence financière basée sur des critères comptables internationaux, sur une fixation par le marché des prix des nouveaux navires et sur un mécanisme de consultations réciproques.
