    Assurément, le groupe P&O Ports fait du forcing sur la place d’Anvers et entend bien y jouer un rôle de premier plan. Après la reprise en février dernier d’Allied Stevedores, filiale du groupe Katoen Natie/Seaport Terminals, et de ses deux grands terminaux à la darse Delwaide et au bassin Churchill, P&O Ports vient de reprendre totalement le complexe de manutention portuaire constitué par Antwerp Combined Terminals (ACT) et Maritime Terminals (MT), ce qui d’emblée le propulse à la troisième place sur la scène de la manutention portuaire anversoise. N’oublions pas que dans le cadre d’un consortium avec P&ONL et Logport (port de Duisbourg), il a obtenu récemment une concession pour l’exploitation d’un terminal à containers dans la future darse à marée en cours de réalisation sur la rive gauche de l’Escaut. Cette installation serait partiellement opérationnelle dans le courant du second semestre de 2002.

    L’organisation wallonne des transporteurs UPTR, qui a quitté la table des négociations lundi après-midi, n’était pas enclin à reprendre les négociations avec la ministre de la Mobilité Isabelle Durant hier après-midi. “Durant n’est pas un interlocuteur valable à nos yeux. La seule chose qu’elle veut, c’est débloquer Bruxelles. Nous exigeons un diesel professionnel et tant que ce ne sera pas le cas, nous poursuivrons nos actions”, a déclaré Marcel Delsemme, le secrétaire-général de l’UPTR. Bruxelles reste donc partiellement bloqué par les chauffeurs de poids lourds mécontents. Les représentants de la SAV et de la Febetra comptaient cependant participer à la réunion technique de mardi après-midi, durant laquelle les pourparlers concernant les mesures proposées par la ministre en matière de fiscalité et les aspects sociaux et environnementaux devaient se poursuivre. “Si cette réunion ne se traduit pas par des mesures concrètes, nous mobiliserons nos membres”, a déclaré Isabelle Demaegt, la porte-parole de la Febetra.
