    Ainsi qu'évoqué précédemment, Hapag-Lloyd a passé commande chez Hyundai Heavy Industries d'une première série de quatre porte-containers d'une capacité unitaire de 7.200 TEU. Le premier de ces navires sera livrable à l'automne 2001, les trois autres suivront jusqu'au début de 2003. Cet armement a développé ces dernières années une stratégie en matière d'investissements en tonnage qui consiste à faire construire des séries homogènes de huit à neuf navires, de manière à pouvoir éventuellement assurer seul un service hebdomadaire sur n'importe quel segment de trafic sur la relation Est-Ouest.
