  • Time for Airbus to come of age
[LONDON] The official launch of the A380 superjumbo airliner on Tuesday is a remarkable tribute to how far the European Airbus programme has come in 30 years. Defying sceptics and the inadequacies of its own unwieldy structure, the venture has grown into a global industry leader, capturing 55 per cent of all new aircraft orders last year. But its latest project is, politically and industrially, its most audacious yet.

MATTEL Inc had big plans this holiday season for the Diva Starz, but America's children had plans of their own. They were not willing to wait to get their hands on the cute interactive doll. When demand unexpectedly surged in September, Mattel scrapped its carefully crafted logistics plan. Instead of shipping them by sea from Asia to a Southern California distribution centre, Mattel cut more than a week out of the transit time by shifting to air freight.
