    Pour le groupe gantois de transport et d’expédition Intercargo-Transuniverse Cargo (ICTUC), l’année 2000 a été placée sous le signe d’une forte expansion. Exprimée en nombres de poids lourds, l’activité a progressé de près de 30%, de 7.500 à quelque 9.700 unités, tandis que le nombre d’envois a augmenté de 18,5% à 34.000. Le CA des entreprises belges du groupe a augmenté de 10 à 15% cette année pour largement franchir le seuil du milliard de BEF. La filiale hongroise inclue, le CA devrait afficher 1,2 mia. de BEF. Le groupe a obtenu de nouveaux contrats de la part de Volvo et Honda et a consenti un investissement de 160 mio. de BEF dans l’acquisition et l’adaptation d’un entrepôt de 17.000 m2.
    à proximité de l’implantation de Wondelgem en vue de développer l’activité d’entreposage et les activités concomitantes. En Grèce, un des marchés de niche du groupe, ICTUC a créé une filiale sous le dénominateur Transuniverse Cargo Hellas en août dernier. L’administrateur délégué Frank Adins et le sales manager Filip Banckaert ont donc toutes les raisons d’être satisfait et ont l’intention de poursuivre dans cette voie en étendant les destinations et services.
  • CP Ships deviendrait global en s’engageant sur la route Europe-Asie et sur le transpacifique
    Le groupe CP Ships mène depuis quelque temps des négociations avec l’armement CMA CGM. Ces discussions portent sur la location de slots pour un service entre l’Europe et l’Asie et vraisemblablement pour un service sur le transpacifique. Il serait question d’un volume de 800 à 1.000 TEU dans les deux sens. Au stade actuel des choses, on ne sait pas encore si ce volume devrait être réparti entre les deux secteurs en question ou s’il a trait uniquement à la relation Europe-Asie. De même, on ignore encore laquelle des filiales de CP Ships, à savoir Lykes Lines/TMM (Americana Ships) ou Contship, assurerait ce nouveau service.

    La Commission européenne a récemment approuvé un rapport qui fustige plusieurs Etats-membres qui n’appliquent pas ou mal la directive 95/29/CE concernant le transport de bétail. Le rapport qualifie un certain nombre d’Etats membres de “mauvais élèves”. Une législation plus sévère est annoncée pour le printemps 2001.
  • La France et le Sud de l’Europe bloquent la libéralisation du marché postal
    Les ministres européens des Télécommunications ne sont pas parvenus à prendre une décision en direction d’une nouvelle ouverture du marché postal à la concurrence dans l’Union européenne. Cet échec est entièrement imputable à la France et aux Etats du sud de l’Union, qui ont rendu tout compromis impossible principalement sous la pression de leurs syndicats. Ces pays rejettent non seulement la réduction de 350 à 50g du monopole sur le courrier, mais bloquent aussi une proposition de compromis belgo-néerlandaise qui visait à poursuivre l’ouverture du marché en trois étapes pour arriver à une libéralisation complète à partir de 2009.
