    Le feuilleton intitulé "Expansion du port d'Anvers à la rive gauche", vient d'entamer un nouveau chapitre qui a pour titre: ...Et Zeebrugge? Le parti écolo Agalev trouverait ainsi un allié en la personne de F. Traen, président de la MBZ, société qui exploite le port côtier belge. Dans une tribune libre qu'a publiée notre confrère "De Standaard", F. Traen développe la théorie selon laquelle force est de constater que dans ce débat sur l'expansion portuaire anversoise, on ne parle jamais de Zeebrugge. Un village doit disparaître alors que ce port côtier dispose toujours d'un grand terminal à containers pratiquement vide, présentant une profondeur d'eau devant quai de 16m. Selon le président de la MBZ, Zeebrugge a une position en bordure de mer comparable à celle de la Maasvlakte.

    La demande pour ferries rapides et unités ro/ro devient de plus en plus grande, mais la rapidité en soi ne suffit pas. L'accent se trouve de plus en plus sur la vitesse combinée à davantage de capacité, un turnround plus rapide dans les ports et une plus grande efficacité dans le but d'optimaliser la rentabilité pour l'armemement. Les navires doivent être adaptés au marché et pas vice-versa. Ou en d'autres mots: ils doivent être rentables.

    La Wallonie a réussi à achever deux des plus importants maillons manquants de l'infrastructure routière dans un délai de six ans: le dernier tronçon de l'A8 et la liaison de l'E40 avec l'E25, ce qui a impliqué un investissement de près de 18,8 mia. de BEF. Quatre autres projets sont prévus au programme. Pour ce faire, la Société wallonne de financement complémentaire des infrastructures (Sofico) a été créée par décret en 1994. Il s'agit d'une société publique ayant pour but de terminer au plus tôt et au moindre coût possible six maillons manquants. Et où reste la Flandre?
