    Les chantier sud-coréens ont raflé 65% des commandes l’année dernière, ceci pour une valeur de 15,2 milliards de dollars US, ce qui s’est traduit par une hausse de 38% en nombre de navires pour atteindre 313 unités. La Corée du Sud s’est placée largement en tête du marché mondial pour la deuxième année consécutive. Pendant ces 12 mois les chantiers sud-coréens ont construit 180 navires, soit 6,5 mio. de tonnes brutes compensées et une valeur de 9,6 mia. de dollars. Au 31 décembre 2000, les carnets de commandes de ces chantiers portaient sur 503 navires pour une valeur de 23,1 mia. de dollars, soit du travail à plein régime pour deux ans et demi. Face à cette évolution, l’UE, après maintes discussions avec les autorités sud-coréennes envisage de réagir et pourrait dans certains cas porter son aide jusqu’à 21% de la valeur des contrats, ce qui correspondrait à la sous-cote coréenne.
  • Anvers: nouveau contre-temps pour la darse à marée?
    Va-t-on une fois encore perturber la construction de la darse à containers à marée sur la rive gauche au sud de Doel en provoquant l’arrêt des travaux? Cette perspective est d’autant plus incompréhensible que quelque 35 mia. de BEF d’investissements sont en jeu et plusieurs milliers d’emplois compte tenu des développements qui découleront des trafics. Il s’avère qu’un auditeur auprès du Conseil d’Etat remet en cause le dernier permis de construire sous prétexte qu’il n’y a pas eu d’enquête publique préalable, comme l’exige la loi.
  • UPS voit son bénéfice augmenter de 20,2%
    Suite aux résultats du quatrième trimestre, le bénéfice du plus grand transporteur mondial de colis va progresser à 2,8 mia. dUSD pour 2000, soit une amélioration de 20,2% par rapport à 1999. Ces chiffres sont principalement dus à la division assurant les activités logistiques d’UPS Logistics (et donc pas active dans les colis), qui a enregistré une croissance de 59% de son chiffre d’affaires et de 85% de son bénéfice d’exploitation. UPS prévoit pour cette année - tout à fait dans la lignée des chiffres avancés par les analystes financiers - une hausse moyenne de son CA de 8 à 10%. Le groupe logistique devrait ainsi noter une augmentation de 40% de son CA.
  • Lykes Lines lance un nouveau service Asie-Méditerranée
    Conformément à l’accord passé entre CP Ships et CMA CGM, Lykes Lines annonce le lancement d’un nouveau service entre la Méditerranée et l’Asie. L’armement dispose déjà de ses propres bureaux en Méditerranée (où il a développé son service sur le Golfe US) ainsi qu’en Asie du Nord et du Sud et des agents ont été nommés récemment en Asie du Sud-Est, suite à l’extension des services transpacifiques. Toutes les dispositions étaient donc en place pour lancer un tel service. Pour Lykes Lines, il s ‘agit du premier service qui n’implique pas une desserte des USA.
