    A l’occasion de l’inauguration officielle du nouveau quartier général européen de Hyundai Motor Europe (HME) à Francfort, nous avons pu nous entretenir exclusivement avec le management européen ainsi que celui de la maison mère coréenne Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) et aborder l’évolution de l’alliance avec DaimlerChrysler. Steve Morgan, executive vice-president D Project Team Strategic Alliance, a plus ou moins défini la situation comme suit: “Il faut d’abord pondre l’oeuf avant de pouvoir parler de poussin”.
  • UPS et FedEx déplacent vers les Etats-Unis leur guerre contre Deutsche Post et DHL
    La hache de guerre a été déterrée ces derniers jours entre les sociétés de transports express UPS et FedEx d’une part, et DHL Worldwide Express (et par là, Deutsche Post) de l’autre. Très rapidement, la bataille a pris une mauvaise tournure, puisque les deux géants américains n’ont pas hésité à appeler à leur secours l’association des transporteurs routiers américains ATA, la centrale syndicale AFL-CIO et le syndicat de camionneurs, les Teamsters. A eux deux, UPS et FedEx dominent 80% du marché américain de l’express et du colis, et comptent conserver cette position. Au point qu’un porte-parole de DHL Worldwide Express les a accusés dans le Journal of Commerce de “protectionisme”.
  • Stef-TFE a vu son chiffre d’affaires augmenter de 8% en 2000
    Le groupe de transport sous température contrôlée Stef-TFE a réalisé l’an dernier un chiffre d’affaires de 1,15 milliard d’EUR, en progression de 8% par rapport à l’exercice précédent. C’est le pôle logistique qui a été le moteur de la croissance. Le transporteur s’attend également à une légère hausse du bénéfice d’exploitation, qui passerait à 12,3 millions d’EUR (contre 12,1 mio. d’EUR en 1999), alors que la plupart des transporteurs enregistrent un recul très net de leur rentabilité, même dans des niches comme le transport frigorifique.
  • Le VEV veut aider les chargeurs à mieux choisir leur mode de transport
    Le VEV, l’organisation patronale flamande, veut mettre au point, en collaboration avec la SAV, B-Cargo et l’organisme flamand de promotie du transport fluvial (Promotie Binnenvaart Vlaanderen), un site internet permettant aux chargeurs de trouver rapidement la solution de transport qui correspond le mieux à leurs flux de marchandises et aux caractéristiques de leur entreprise. Non seulement ce système tiendra compte des propres critères de qualité avancés par l’entreprise, mais en plus, il leur fournira la possibilité de se faire une idée des choix faits en matière de transport par des entreprises comparables dans des conditions comparables. Le VEV veut ainsi contribuer à réconcilier les chargeurs avec le rail et le fluvial, dont l’image auprès des entreprises n’est pas très bonne. L’application devrait être opérationnelle en date du 1er mai prochain.
