    Comme on le sait, la Banque Nationale de Belgique publie depuis une dizaine d’années des rapports sur l’importance économique des quatre ports flamands, définissant la contribution directe de chaque zone portuaire à l’économie belge. Le rapport de 1999 révèle que Zeebrugge a été le seul port flamand cette année-là ayant vu progresser sa contribution au Trésor. En comparaison avec les trois autres ports, il a en outre été le seul qui a noté une amélioration pour tous les paramètres par rapport à l’année précédente. Par ailleurs, il a également été le seul port où le secteur public a enregistré une hausse considérable des investissements (+83%). Ajoutons que Zeebrugge a aussi été le seul port où le secteur privé a signalé des chiffres en croissance sur tous les fronts. En 1999, Sea-Ro Terminals a été le principal prestataire de services sur le plan de l’emploi, des investissements et de la valeur ajoutée.
  • Salvesen a enregistré des résultats en demi-teinte en 2000
    Le groupe britannique Christian Salvesen a annoncé une diminution de 2,5% de ses bénéfices (avant frais exceptionnels) à l’issue de l’année 2000, terminée le 31 mars 2001, à 39,3 mio. de GBP. Le chiffre d’affaires, par contre, a augmenté de 7,4% à 737,8 mio. de GBP. La baisse du résultat est dû dans une large mesure à l’augmentation des coûts de carburant et de sous-traitance (en Espagne et en Allemagne principalement). En conséquence, le groupe est en train d’investir dans un accroissement de sa propre flotte, afin de diminuer l’utilisation de tractionnaires. Le groupe a également annoncé que l’année 2001 a très bien débuté.
  • Le “CMA CGM Balzac” (6447 TEU) établit un nouveau record pour Zeebrugge
    Le président de la MBZ, Joachim Coens, prévoit que l’approfondissement de l’accès portuaire, de 52 pieds actuellement à 55 pieds, sera réalisé avant la fin de l’année, au plus tards début de l’an prochain. “Le gouvernement flamand est proche d’une décision”, a-t-il déclaré samedi au cours de la cérémonie à l’occasion de l’escale du plus grand porte-containers ayant jamais touché le port, à savoir le “CMA CGM Balzac” (6.447 TEU). Durant cette escale, qui a duré moins de 24 h, 1208 mouvements de containers ont été effectués à Zeebrugge.
  • Le port d’Ostende envisage d’importants travaux d’infrastructure et de superstructure
    Ostende veut continuer à développer son avant-port pour le trafic de croisières et de ferries rapides et a ainsi vu venir des promoteurs de projets portuaires proposer d’adapter ces trafics aux exigences des transports modernes tant sur le plan de l’infrastructure que de la superstructure. Dans ce cadre, on a récemment présenté un projet visant à accueillir les voyageurs de croisières et les passagers des Super Seacats dans un nouveau complexe.
