    DFDS Tor Line vient de transformer en commande fixe la première de ses cinq options sur des navires roro d’une capacité de 4.000 m linéaires et d’une vitesse de croisières de 22 noeuds auprès du constructeur naval allemand Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft. L’armement avait déjà passé commande de trois navires de ce type. Les quatre unités déjà commandées seront mises en service entre septembre 2003 et août 2004. Les trois premiers navires seront alignés sur le service AngloBridge entre Göteborg et Immingham et augmenteront la capacité sur cette route de 40%. Cela signifie concrètement que l’opérateur roro renonce à son projet d’aligner déjà dans cette première phase un des trois grands navires sur le service EuroBridge entre Gand et Göteborg. Mais en échange, Gand recevrait les trois derniers navires de l’armement, construits en Italie et pouvant embarquer 2.800 m linéaires de cargaisons roulantes. Selon le presiding director de DFDS Tor Line, Ole Frie, le quatrième navire de 4.000 ml pourrait également venir s’ajouter à ceux-ci.

Le fait d’avoir signifié son retrait aux partenaires concernés implique pour cet armement la nécessité de se trouver un autre contexte opérationnel, étant donné qu’il a la ferme intention de rester présent dans ce trafic. Ce départ est également l’occasion pour les membres restants du “VSA3” de repenser leur opérations.
