    Le Belge Paul Laeremans, administrateur délégué de la FBAA (Fédération Belge des Exploitants d’Autobus et d’Autocars et des Organisateurs de voyages) a été élu président de l’Union internationale des Transports par route (IRU) à Genève. Il entrera en fonction le 1er janvier 2002, pour un mandat de 2 ans. L’assemblée générale de l’IRU a adopté par ailleurs une déclaration sur la fermeture du tunnel du St. Gothard, en Suisse. Elle demande entre autres qu’en vertu des accords du GATT, les restrictions au transit alpin soient suspendues cet hiver.
