    Le transport routier reste de loin le vecteur le plus important dans les pré- et post-acheminements de containers intéressant le port d’Anvers. Les autres modes ont toutefois poursuivi leur marche en avant l’année dernière. Ils ont enregistré des taux de croissance au moins deux fois supérieur que celui du transport routier, qui s’est élevé à 7,4% en 2000, et se sont donc octroyés des parts de marché supplémentaires. En chiffres absolus, la navigation intérieure a même noté une croissance plus rapide que le transport routier.
  • Hambourg: les diverses sont containérisées à 93% avec 4,24 mio. de TEU
    Le port de Hambourg a toutes les raisons d’être très satisfait de l’exercice écoulé. Le transbordement a une nouvelle fois progressé de 5% et s’est élevé au niveau record de 85,1 millions de tonnes (contre 81 mio. de t en 1999). Le trafic containérisé a fait un bond de 13,2% à 45,3 mio. de t, ce qui signifie que pour la première fois dans l’histoire du port allemand, plus de la moitié du volume traité concernait des marchandises containérisées. Dans le secteur des diverses, le degré de containérisation dépasse désormais les 93% (contre 81% à Bremerhaven, 78% à Rotterdam et 65% à Anvers). Avec un total de 4,248 millions de TEU, Hambourg est resté le deuxième port à containers du continent.

Cette perspective ne laisse pas indifférent le gouvernement régional flamand, étant donné que plusieurs dossiers qui intéressentla Flandre, ont également une dimension européenne. A la demande du ministre-président flamand Patrick Dewael, la “Fondation Rubens/Rubens Stichting” (Institut pour les relations internationales asbl -Instituut voor Internationale Betrekkingen vzw) a donc formulé un certain nombre de points de vue qui peuvent s’interpréter comme des suggestions d’autant plus intéressantes qu’elle émanent d’une organisation apolitique au sein de laquelle on trouve d’éminentes personnalités du secteur privé(1).
