    La banque KBC et l’association flamande d’automobilistes VAB vont lancer une vaste campagne pour sensibiliser les usagers de la route - du piéton au chauffeur de poids lourd - au problème de l’angle mort des camions et des dangers qu’il représente. C’est une campagne de plus, qui est complémentaire à celles qui ont déjà été lancées par certaines communes ou certaines associations professionnelles. Elle est toutefois basée sur d’une part une enquête auprès des chauffeurs et d’autre part des tests pratiques, dont les résultats sont particulièrement intéressants. Les résultats révèlent que l’ampleur du problème est beaucop plus grande que prévu, et que le rétroviseur anti-angle mort, avancé par les responsables politiques comme LA solution, n’est qu’une solution minimale, la caméra panoramique placée en haut de la cabine étant de loin la meilleure solution technique.
  • Coup d’envoi de la refonte des associations portuaires gantoises
    Le coup d’envoi de la réforme des associations portuaires gantoises a été officiellement donné mardi soir. Lors de l’assemblée générale de l’Association des Intérêts Maritimes de Gand, la VGZ (Vereniging Gentse Zeevaartbelangen), l’administrateur délégué Paul Matthijs de Sidmar a été élu nouveau président de l’association. Avec des structures et des statuts adaptés, la VGZ doit s’ériger comme le forum et le porte-parole du secteur privé du port de Gand, dont il doit défendre les intérêts. C’est dans ce sens que le fonctionnement et l’organisation de la Communauté portuaire gantoise ont également été redessinés. Le projet bénéficie du soutien des responsables politiques. Les associations portuaires renouvelées doivent se trouver sur les rails le premier janvier 2001.
  • La douane néerlandaise procède à une restructuration
    La douane néerlandaise a l’intention de réduire le nombre de grands bureaux de douane à quatre aux Pays-Bas: un dans le nord du pays, un dans le sud, un dans le Randstad (la conurbation constituée par le carré Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht et La Haye) et un à Rotterdam. A l’heure actuelle, il y a encore des bureaux à Amsterdam, Hoofddorp, Roozendaal, Rotterdam, Arnhem et Groningue. Le bureau relativement petit de Barendrecht, près de Rotterdam, ferme ses portes aujourd’hui. Les entreprises déplorent cette restructuration au sein du service des Impôts et de la Douane et ont déjà protesté auprès de la Douane néerlandaise.
