A l’issue de l’exercice 2000, avec 44,52 millions de tonnes, elle intervenait déjà pour 72 % du volume global des marchandises diverses, contre 65,4% en 1999. Le conventionnel/breakbulk (18,24 mio. de t) a pourtant progressé l’année dernière de 20,5%, tandis que le ro/ro (5,96 mio. de t) enregistrait une augmentation de 4,4%. On peut s’attendre à ce que cette année encore, compte tenu de la croissance régulière propres aux services qui touchent le port, et des nouveaux loops annoncés, la containérisation grignotera encore quelques pour-cent du secteur des diverses.

    En novembre dernier, nous annoncions l’intention de l’armement Ferryways, qui exploite une liaison ro/ro régulière entre Ostende et Ipswich, de lancer un service régulier parallèle intégralement containérisé, pour répondre à la forte croissance des containers dry et citernes sur cette liaison. Ce projet se précise et devrait être concrétisé dans le courant des prochains mois, mais pas encore en mars prochain, comme l’annoncent certains journaux.

    Dans son communiqué annonçant le lancement très prochain de sept nouvelles lignes depuis Londres Stansted, dont une vers Bruxelles-Sud Charleroi Airport, Ryanair confirme que les négociations avec quatre aéroports européens appelés à devenir le hub continental de la compagnie aérienne irlandaise sont presque terminées et que les détails seront diffusés au cours d’une conférence de presse le 28 février prochain. Ryanair (cotée en brouse) affirme qu’elle ne fera pas d’autres commentaires avant cette date.
