(Société d’Opérations maritimes et fluviales, dépendante du groupe Cockerill-Sambre, et la firme S.A.T.E.M. s.a. (Société d’Affrètement de Transit et de Mise à Bord) qui dépendait d’Usinor. Une modification du cadre juridique des entreprises a eu lieu ce 29 juin, qui implique la scission de la société S.O.M.E.F. en deux entreprises distinctes, à savoir Ocean Logistics s.a. issue du rapprochement de ses activités anversoises avec celles de S.A.T.E.M., basée à Anvers et SOMEF s.a. basée à Liège.

La nouvelle convention perturberait “l’équilibre existant dans le traitement des intérêts des armateurs et des affréteurs d’une part et des intéressés par la cargaison d’autre part”, estime-on à Bruxelles. Le gouvernement belge soutient de la sorte les chargeurs et les secteurs portuaires, qui avaient demandé dans une motion déposée en début d’année de ne pas ratifier le texte.
