Selon des chiffres encore provisoires de Promotie Binnenvaart Vlaanderen, le trafic sur les voies fluviales flamandes - exprimé en tonnes-kilomètre - a progressé de près de 16% à plus de 4 milliards de tkm. En 1999, la croissance en tkm avait atteint 7,4%. Le tonnage transporté a augmenté de pratiquement 13% à 63,30 millions de tonnes. En 1999, le volume avait noté une hausse de 6,2% à 56,07 millions de tonnes.
  • Axial Seneffe cherche à compenser la perte du trafic Fiat
    La décision du groupe Fiat de ne plus transporter les voitures destinées au Benelux par train depuis l’Italie, mais par la voie maritime, va avoir des conséquences importantes pour la société de transport d’automobiles Axial à Seneffe. La direction a annoncé lors d’un conseil d’entreprise extraordinaire, vendredi dernier, que 100 des 192 emplois à Seneffe sont menacés, rapporte l’agence Belga. L’administrateur délégué, M. Rasson, s’est refusé à donner plus de commentaires sur le volet social de ce dossier. Il a par ailleurs démenti l’information publiée par Belga selon laquelle Rover aurait également décidé de mettre fin à son contrat avec Axial.
  • CP Ships et filiales entrent dans le trafic Europe-Asie
    A la fin décembre, nous annoncions la perspective de voir CP Ships et ses filiales faire leur entrée dans le trafic Europe-Far East suite aux négociations entamées en ce sens avec CMA CGM. Lesdites négociations ont abouti et portent sur un accord de location de slots, d’une portée de deux ans, durée que l’UE ne permet pas de dépasser, mais qui est renouvelable. En ce qui concerne les volumes, le processus sera progressif, mais il atteindra sa limite de 1.500 TEU par semaine dans chaque sens à la fin de cette année.
