L’installation, qui travaillait lors de son inauguration officielle il y a trois mois au rythme de 7.000 unités par mois (containers et caisses mobiles), a atteint en août un rendement de 12.000 unités, alors qu’on en attendait 10.000 pour la fin de l’année. C’est dire que pour la première année d’exploitation, le cap des 100.000 unités initialement prévu sera largement dépassé.
  • Frans Maas va augmenter sa capacité à Gand et Moerdijk
    Le groupe logistique Frans Maas annonce pour le premier semestre un résultat net de 10,4 mio. d’EUR, soit une hausse de 6% par rapport au premier semestre de l’an dernier. Le chiffre d’affaires a enregistré une progression encore plus forte, mais les coûts d’exploitation ont également augmenté à cause de “mesures visant à renforcer l’organisation”, indique un communiqué de presse. La politique de croissance - tant interne (en Suisse, en Hongrie et en Turquie) que via des acquisitions (en Bulgarie, en Allemagne et en Finlande) - a été poursuivie, alors que des plans pour une expansion au Benelux ont également été annoncés.
  • Swissair à nouveau confrontée à de lourdes pertes
    Chez la compagnie aérienne Swissair, le malaise se poursuit. Si le nouveau management a consenti d’importants efforts, le groupe a néanmoins subi une perte de plusieurs millions au premier semestre de l’année: un déficit de 234 mio. de CHF est venu se greffer sur la perte de 2,6 mia. de CHF subie en 2000. Swissair affichait encore un bénéfice modeste de 3 mio. de CHF à l’issue du premier semestre de l’année dernière.
  • Calais envisage le développement d’un nouveau port ferry
    Les compagnies ferry dans la zone de navigation entre le continent européen et le Royaume-Uni semblent avoir digéré la concurrence du tunnel sous la Manche et la suppression des ventes hors taxes. Les compagnies ferry actives dans cette zone de navigation investissent à nouveau dans des unités modernes d’une capacité plus grande que le tonnage existant ou lancent de nouvelles liaisons. Apparemment, le port de Calais pense à nouveau à une forte expansion.
