    La capacité des porte-containers dans le monde est passée de 3 mio. de TEU en février 1996 à 6 mio. de TEU en 2002. La capacité de la flotte a donc doublé en l’espace de six ans. Il s’agit là d’une croissance annuelle de 10,8% alors que la croissance du commerce mondial n’a été que de 7%. C’est ce qui ressort d’une analyse de BRS-Alphaliner sur la croissance de la flotte containérisée mondiale (et plus précisément cellulaire).
  • Anvers fait bloc pour la solution des Etats-Généraux sur la liaison d’Oosterweel
    En ce qui concerne la liaison d’Oosterweel (tunnel et pont), la nouvelle liaison fixe sur l’Escaut pour le trafic routier qui doit fermer le ring autour d’Anvers, toutes les parties concernées de la concertation au sommet qui a eu lieu hier à la Maison provinciale, sont favorables à l’optimisation du plan que les Etats-Généraux ont introduit en avril 2000. Néanmoins, quatre options de base ont été reprises dans le Rapport d’Incidence sur l’Environnement (RIE) qui sera remis aux autorités européennes.

    “Le développement commercial du Kluizendok débute aujourd’hui.” C’est ce qu’a déclaré l’échevin du port de Gand Daniël Termont vendredi midi lors d’une conférence de presse sur le dragage de l’accès à la nouvelle darse latérale sur la rive gauche du canal maritime vers Terneuzen et de la première moitié du mur de quai nord de cette darse. Termont a également pu annoncer que l’Entreprise portuaire de Gand (GAB) a conclu un premier accord de concession pour une petite partie des terrains d’arrière-quai, où 40 hectares seront disponibles dans une première phase. La firme Metaalconstructie Aelterman, qui réalise entre autres des ponts et qui est dans une large mesure tributaire de la voie d’eau pour le transport de ses produits, viendra s’y implanter sur un terrain de 4 ha. Termont a en outre déclaré que les négociations avec d’autres candidats-investisseurs se trouvent dans un stade très avancé.
  • La Russie envisage d’arrêter ses importations de sucre: Anvers n’est pas concerné
    Les autorités russes ont laissé entendre qu’elles ont l’intention d’arrêter leurs importations de sucre blanc. Elles voudraient ainsi protéger et favoriser les raffineurs russes. Or, ces importations ont été très importantes ces dernières années: elles ont atteint près de 6 mio. de tonnes l’année dernière. Dans quelle mesure cette intention va-t-elle se traduire dans les faits? C’est une question à laquelle il est difficile de répondre à l’heure actuelle. Ce qui est certain c’est que cette interruption va s’étaler dans le temps, compte tenu des retards qu’ont les secteurs agricole et de la transformation en Russie.
