    L’année 2001 a été caractérisée en Belgique par une progression du taux de faillites dans le transport routier de marchandises par rapport à 2000. Cette progression a été beaucop plus nette dans ce secteur que dans l’économie belge en général. Le taux de faillites a été le plus élevé à Bruxelles-Capitale, le plus faible en Flandre. Et il se confirme au fil des ans que les entreprises de transport de création récente sont les plus vulnérables, surtout si elles ont de faibles capitaux de départ. Telles sont les conclusions d’une étude que vient de publier l’Institut du Transport routier (ITR), l’observatoire économique de ce secteur en Belgique.

    Le groupe logistique britannique Exel a enregistré des résultats supérieurs aux prévisions au cours de la première moitié de l’année. Le bénéfice avant impôts s’est élevé à 100,3 mio. de GBP contre 88,6 mio. de GBP voici un an, soit une augmentation de 13,2%. Des analystes avaient prévu 98,5 mio. de GBP, tenant compte du faible dollar. Exel vient d’être retenu par Goodyear pour être son “lead logistics provider” en Amérique du Nord. Le groupe britannique a également conclu un contrat avec la division espagnole de la chaîne de bricolage AKI pour la gestion d’un nouveau centre de distribution.
